Why Wonder Woman 3 is not transferring ahead at Warner Bros. Discovery was the supply of a lot drama final week. So a lot in order that director Patty Jenkins felt the necessity to clear the air and provides her tackle the DC superheroine state of affairs.
On Twitter, Jenkins–who helmed the primary two Wonder Woman films–seemed particularly pissed off by the concept she left the third installment due to her lack of ability to take suggestions on the venture.
“When there started being backlash about [Wonder Woman 3] not happening, the attractive clickbait false story that it was me that killed it or walked away started to spread. This is simply not true,” Jenkins stated. “I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me.
“It was my understanding there was nothing I might do to maneuver something ahead right now. DC is clearly buried in modifications they’re having to make, so I perceive these choices are tough proper now.”
The changes she alludes to center around a fresh 10-year plan being incorporated by new DC Studios leaders James Gunn and Peter Safran. In fact, the initial report regarding Wonder Woman 3’s cancelation pointed to Gunn and company saying the script treatment from Jenkins didn’t fit into their vision for the future.
Speaking of what’s to come, Jenkins wrote that there might be a chance she’s involved with Wonder Woman again. But if not, she’s appreciative of her experience with the character and actress Gal Gadot.
“I don’t need what has been a good looking journey with WW to land on adverse be aware,” Jenkins said. “I’ve liked and been so honored to be the one that bought to make these final two Wonder Woman movies. She is an unimaginable character. Living in and round her values makes one a greater individual daily. I want her and her legacy an incredible future forward, with or with out me.”
Switching film universes, Jenkins also implies that she’s still involved with the Star Wars movie Rogue Squadron at Disney and Lucasfilm. The director says she stepped away from the project to start working on Wonder Woman 3. Because of these scheduling conflicts, Jenkins came to a new agreement with Lucasfilm to return to a galaxy far, far away after completing her DC film.
As such, Jenkins states Rogue Squadron is still in active development, with the caveat she’s unsure if the movie will actually get made. “We by no means do till the event course of is full, however I sit up for its potential forward,” she said.
Rogue Squadron was reportedly delayed in November 2021. There is no new release date for the Star Wars film, which was originally planned to premiere December 22, 2023.
