‘Overwatch 2’ servers go down due to “mass DDoS” attack at launch

Overwatch 2 launched right now (October 4), but Blizzard Entertainment has shared that it’s skilled points connectivity points due to a “mass” distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack.

As followers queued to soar into the primary day of Overwatch 2, gamers seen points with remaining linked to matches and issue in logging into the shooter recreation’s providers.

Taking to Twitter, Blizzard president Mike Ybarra defined that the problems have been being brought on by a focused attack on Overwatch 2 servers.

“Unfortunately we are experiencing a mass DDoS attack on our servers,” posted Ybarra. “Teams are working hard to mitigate/manage. This is causing a lot of drop/connection issues.”

Half an hour earlier than Ybarra acknowledged the DDoS attack, he mentioned that “Teams are working hard on server issues with Overwatch 2. We are humbled by the excitement of players and will continue to focus on issues and get players into the fun! Thanks for your patience.”

As famous on Overwatch 2‘s identified points web page, gamers who merged their PC and console accounts being met with “Unexpected Server Error” messages, whereas others are “experiencing server disconnects” or having bother seeing their “cosmetics, items, and curency.”

On a Reddit megathread for technical points with Overwatch 2, many gamers have reported having points with connection, suggesting the attack is widespread.

It’s a major problem for followers wanting to play their first matches of the free-to-play recreation, as the issues have cropped up inside hours of the shooter launching.
